Begin with the surface and setting
Flexible banner material and adhesive vinyl solve different installation problems. A banner is generally tensioned or fixed at its edges; adhesive vinyl is applied to a suitable smooth surface. The right choice depends on where the graphic will sit and how it will be mounted.
Consider these factors
- Surface: Is it a wall, window, vehicle, frame or freestanding structure? Check the surface condition and compatibility before specifying an adhesive.
- Viewing environment: Distance, lighting and glare can affect how artwork reads. Review the material and finish in a setting similar to the final location where possible.
- Exposure: Sun, moisture, cleaning and handling affect material selection. Ask the supplier to confirm a suitable option for the expected conditions.
- Removal and reuse: Confirm whether the graphic is temporary, permanent or intended to be reused. Removal can depend on both the adhesive and the surface.
- Installation: Size, seams, mounting points, access and venue rules should be included in the plan.
Prepare the artwork
Confirm the finished dimensions, safe areas, panel joins and resolution with the production partner before supplying final files. For a large graphic, ask how the artwork will be divided and aligned during installation.
There is no single material that fits every sign or backdrop. Share the surface, location, intended use and deadline, then confirm the material, finish and mounting method as part of the project specification.
